摘要Abstract:

A fundamental problem in number theory is to understand the set of rational solutions to (a system of) polynomial equations with integer coefficients. One approach is to study the space consisting of the complex number solutions to these polynomial equations. This space is considered as an algebraic curve whenever it has one dimension.

In this talk, we would explore some basic properties of algebraic curves and explain some relationships among their geometric and algebraic properties with the number of rational points. Some concrete examples would be discussed further.
